Grilled London Broil

Recipe: Grilled London Broil

Ingredients

  • 1 top round steak, – 2 or more inches thick
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp fresh ground black pepper

 For the marinade

  • 3/4 cup Italian dressing
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup teriyaki sauce
  • 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. freshly ground pepper

Instructions

Make the marinade by adding all the marinade ingredients right inside a large zip lock bag. Zip the bag closed and massage the ingredients together with you hands to combine then add the steak to the bag and coat the steak on all sides with the marinade. Place the zip lock bag with the marinade and the steak still inside of it in a shallow dish just large enough to hold it flat. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours, turning occasionally. Preheat the grill to 450 degrees. Remove the marinated steak from the refrigerator and season with the salt and pepper and let set at room temperature for 30-45 minutes before grilling so it will grill more evenly and reserve the left over marinade. Grill the meat directly over the heat elements of a gas grill, turning once or twice and brushing with the reserved marinade for up to 5 minutes before the steak is done. Grilling will take about 17-25 minutes total depending on the thickness and size. For a perfect medium steak the internal temperature should be 130 degrees when it is removed from the grill and the temperature will rise to 135 degrees while it rests. Be careful not to over cook the steak or will be very tough. Remove the steak from the grill and transfer to a carving board and let rest for about 5 minutes. Thinly slice across the grain, reserving any meat juices that accumulate and place on a serving platter.
