Recipe: Sangria
Ingredients
- 2 large juice oranges, washed
- 1 large lemon, washed
- 1 small granny smith apple, washed
- 1/4 cup superfine sugar
- 1/4 cup Cointreau (Orange liqueur)
- 1 (750 ml) bottle medium-bodied red wine
Instructions
First slice only one of the oranges into rings and place them into the pitcher, set the other orange to the side. Then slice the lemon into rings and also place into the pitcher. Now core the apple leaving the skin on and dice into a small dice. Add the diced apple to the pitcher with the sliced orange and lemon. Add the sugar to the pitcher with the diced apple, orange and lemon slices. Juice the remaining orange discarding any seeds and add the freshly squeezed orange juice to the pitcher along with the Cointreau and the red wine.
Stir gently for about 1 minute to dissolve the sugar and then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 6-8 hours prior to serving. Stir before serving and serve in a glass with ice cubes and distribute the fruits into the glasses. Drink responsibly.
