Recipe: Hummus


  • 2 cups drained canned garbanzo beans, liquid reserved (Goya Brand)
  •  2 Tbs. tahini
  • 5 Tbs. fresh lemon juice, plus more
  •  2 to 3 TbsGood Olive Oil
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 6 pita breads oven toasted-optional
  • assorted bell peppers-optional


In the bowl of a food processor, combine the garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, cayenne pepper and salt. Process until smooth, adding some of the bean liquid to loosen the texture. Season to taste by adjusting with a little more salt and lemon juice, if needed. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, garnish will a little olive oil and a dash of cayenne pepper. Keep in fridge but serve at room temperature with Pita bread or sliced bell peppers

Pita bread can be store bought and toasted on cookie sheets for 6-8 minutes at 375 Degrees F. Cut into wedges.
